Jazz Stabilization Day 1 & Jai R2 Maintenance 15

Weight loss progress NIL.

We both stayed the same as at yesterday's weight. Alhamdulillah. I am hoping that TOM will be over soon and perhaps my weight will ease off from water retention. That will be something to look forward to.

Still trying to focus on completing this journey cheat free.. On my own and resolving to do my very best..for myself and for my children. Now I am no longer obsessed with weight issues and get depress every time I'm buying new clothes... I can fit into an M size off rack clothing comfortably now versus at least an L or even an XL before. Good for my self esteem and mood now that I am happy with my weight and no longer worried about related health issues such as diabetes or high BP and cholesterol. Great to be alive and well. Allah has given us a great gift, this life and body and we must take care of it well.. Alhamdulillah for this blessing..

Jazz R2 Maintenance 21 & Jai R2 Maintenance 14

Weight loss progress:
Jazz at 82.9 kg down 100 gm.
Myself at 60.8 kg up 100 gm.

Good thing that Jazz has officially completed his 21 day Maintenance/Phase 3 and now going into Stabilization Phase where he can slowly add back starches and sugar into his daily intake. This last Phase should be for another 3 weeks wherein with sensible and healthier eating habits he should be able to adjust his weight where he wants it to be as the body's metabolism has already resets itself to the new base weight. Hopefully these whole process of protocol and phases of dieting have taught us all about better food and lifestyle choices so we never get back onto the overweight path again.. Amin!

Our cheat tracker:
Same thing for Jazz the sweet kuih. After this he can have his kuih, in moderation of coz.
And for me, 3 pieces of pineapple hazelnut tart. The rest is protocol friendly food.

So it's only me now still having a few more days of personal cookie battle until the end of my Maintenance Phase....huh...

Wednesday 24 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 20 & Jai R2 Maintenance 13

Arghhhhhhh!!! We both suffered from weight gain today Jazz at 83 kg and I at 60.7 kg... It's due to sugar overload....Jazz with his weakness for sweet kuih for Iftar and me busy testing my Raya cookies, makmur and latest the newly baked pineapple tart.

To make matters worse for me, TOM (time of the month) made an appearance and I get bloated big time... Well, time to get back on track or we gonna yoyo our weight and waste our hard work all these phases... Right now we are considered lucky to still be within the 1 kg limit from our last dose weight (LDW).

Have to be POP (perfectly on protocol) tomorrow, a day at a time.. Gets tougher to be disciplined nearer to the end. Well that's life...nothing comes easy.

Tuesday 23 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 19 & Jai R2 Maintenance 12

Jazz didn't weigh himself for his P3 D19 progress. I went up 400 gm to 60.4 kg on P3 D12, been feeling kind of bloated and I'm nearing the time of the month (TOM) so may be it's due to water retention.. I haven't been straying away too much from protocol. We had a buffet Iftar but I was mainly stuffing myself with protein and had 3 little vegetable fritters. Jazz had to have his sweet kuih so the sugar excess may showed up on the scale later. Sahur was simple meal of fruits and grilled fish with soya chili.

Still within the 1 kg range limit of our last phase weight, so we are doing fine.. Personally, I don't worry much about the losses versus our last weight, more on the gain...hoping it stays below the 1 kg limit. Wouldn't want to do a correction so near Eid holidays..

Hoping that family and friends on this protocol stay on course the best they can during Eid celebration and feasts so if there is a need for a Round 2, it will not be at more than a kilo higher than the new base weight achieved in Round 1. All the best everyone...

Jazz R2 Maintenance 18 & Jai R2 Maintenance 11

We are still in stabilizing mode and the weights are up again today with Jazz gaining 500 gm to 82.5 kg and I am at exactly my ideal weight as per my height and age at 60 kg on the dot! Well can't complain right..

For yesterday's Iftar, we had a good selection of protein at Yuzu Japanese Restaurant, KLCC. We each had 2 california hand rolls without the sticky rice, some foiled wrapped mixed seafood, eel with braised tofu, beef and grilled Saba/mackerel. Mind boggling choices of protein versus no combination of protein rule during VLCD. Hehe... The meals were very satisfying and rather healthy I must say..

We had a late supper at Saba Arabic Restaurant around 1 a.m at Setiawangsa. We drank Arabic tea and had their Lamb Hanith. It's a dish of lamb wrapped in foiled and cooked with about 12-13 spices. Our first time there as we heard very good reviews about the food from a friend who recommended their outlet in Cyberjaya... The food is really good and even the tea is very flavourful...we added our own Stevia drop.

I still woke up for Sahur meal but just had an orange and water. Made Jazz a teh tarik with Stevia and fresh milk. He had the teh tarik with some apple and almonds.

A good day...food consumption wise.. I am thinking of cooking Asam laksa Penang again as I'm craving for the sour gravy. Hmmm....am thinking of the gravy with lots of cucumber, onions, salad, chilies and boiled eggs..nice. May be later this week..

Jazz R2 Maintenance 17 & Jai R2 Maintenance 10

Today's weigh in was so so...we stabilize so no big deal. Jazz gained 100 gm to 82kg and I gained 200 gm to 59.8 kg.

Jazz had another buffet invitation for Iftar and managed to stay on protocol taking only protein and veges forfeiting the kuih and other sweet stuff. But when he got home, he ate 2 pieces of the Makmur cookies with almonds as late night snacks. I just had a piece of grilled chicken burger and spicy mee Bandung for my Iftar without the mee of coz. Cooked the gravy with lots of dried prawns, ground peanuts to thickened the sauce as I didn't use any sweet potatoes (not yet protocol friendly). It had a variety of protein ie beef, prawn, eggs and squid. I added lots of bak choy, fresh tomatoes and ACV instead of tomato sauce.....the store bought sauce normally has added sugar. With a few dash of Bragg amino liquid for flavour, the gravy was so tasty and great. Sahur was another bowl of Bandung gravy with all the vegetables and eggs. Snacks were as usual, orange, apple and almonds.

Didn't get enough sleep last night as I kept waking up in the middle of the night as hubby was making noises with his bad dreams.. I am a light sleeper and noises do not agree with me and once I had interrupted sleep, it was not easy for me to fall back to sleep.. Huh... Will try to catch up on my sleep tonite but I do want to also stay up a bit as it's the last 9th nights of Ramadhan...

This afternoon I made brown sugar with coconut milk pudding and Oreo mini muffins...I brought some to my sis in law's house in Gombak. There are some left over in the kitchen....I am pretty sure I will have a taste...may be later... I am still trying to be good... The weight loss I get despite the cheat is not helping...it's making me indisciplined which I don't like...purgh!!

Friday 19 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 16 & Jai R2 Maintenance 9

Dare I believed the scale today? What the .... happened? I don't understand. But I am past trying to understand...hehe...all I know is, it's a DROP, a big unexpected DROP. Jazz lost 1 kg to 81.9 kg and I lost 600 gm to 59.6 kg. Even in R2P2 I didn't get that great results, may be only in the first few days..

To say that we are happy is an understatement..

Iftar yesterday was great Mexican food at Las Carretas, Ampang. We had salad wrapped beef fajitas with cheese, short barbeque ribs and mussels cooked in cream halepenos and cilantro sauce..yumm. Took a bite of my son's chicken nugget and left over beef cheese from my daughter's Carlos skin. Enjoyed a cappuccino and latte with a little drop of Stevia to complete the meal. Nuts were the snacks of choice and Sahur meals were Nescafe with milk and lots of fruits..

I still wonder on the big losses...did we underestimate our protein portions? Did we eat too little? But we did wallop our nuts like crazy and I don't take care of my fat/oil intake, I just use olive oil and sometimes butter in my cooking and coconut milk and I did everything as per my normal cooking routine...hmm..

May be our body really like red meat in this phase, yeah! Higher protein boosting our metabolism? We certainly had an overdose of protein last night..the portions of the ribs and grilled beef fajitas were big.. Well enough of wondering....what I must say is Alhamdulillah..

I'm not gonna be worried of losing a kg or 2 more than my ideal weight as long as my calorie portions are met. After all I need the buffer for Eid's cookies...my once in a year soft spots.. As otherwise I am not much of a sweet person but more of a savory one. Anyway I have noticed, even at my ideal weight I still have the not so needed fats around me...hehehe.. Talk about being ungrateful.. Well I am just being human, I know that it's been a blessing that I found out about HCG diet and successfully lose my stubborn fat as well as get my metabolism back with it. I thank Allah for this experience..

Thursday 18 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 15 & Jai R2 Maintenance 8

Jazz reported a 100 gm gain today, back up to 82.9 kg and I remained at 60.2 kg, fair enough considering that we both had 3 pieces of Makmur cookies last night fresh from the oven. Again the excuse is I wanted to test the sweetness of the cookies but I can always asked my maid or daughter to do the taste test.. Well, been bad on this maintenance for Round 2.. Praying that the weight will remain stable until completion of this Phase or we will have to do correction day ie. an apple or a steak day... So far still within acceptable range of about a kilo gain though for Jazz the limit is quite near..

I had a piece of fried chicken and vegetable soup for Iftar. Jazz again ate out at another buffet but sticking to veges and protein to remain on protocol. We snacks on pistachios and for Sahur meals we both had our boring fried eggs of two eggs each with cheese and mushroom. Had some apple and orange and of coz not to forget the 3 pieces each of Makmur cookies I baked for Eid. And oh yes, I did have two spoonful of green bean and durian concoction to test it's sweetness as I wanted to send it to a nearby mosque for the congregation and wanted to make sure that it tasted just right...huh...

Personally, this HCG diet has kicked in my baking instinct and I suddenly have the urge to experiment with all sort of baking be it, cakes, traditional local kuih, cookies, puddings etc. The availability of various cooking blogs are not helping as I can now access the recipes easily which otherwise I won't know anything about...huh... It just makes me feels so satisfied to see the end products and it gives me a sense of accomplishment. The problem is our will power for this Round have gone hay wire, since we have already lost so much as well as more or less achieved our weight loss target...so complacency has settled in... NOT GOOD..

Compliance to no starch and sugar protocol in Phase 3 Maintenance is key in ensuring that our body understand and recognize the new lower base weight so our metabolism will readjust accordingly even when we start increasing our calorie intake. To introduce starch and sugar too early when we have started taking in oil/fat in Phase 3 is going to distrupt the chemical balancing in our body and will result in the body to be very volatile causing weight gain. The body needs 21 days to stabilize without starch and sugar to ensure that the body's metabolism works at it's best.. Only after the completion of 21 days of Phase 3 Maintenance, we can gradually reintroduce starch and sugar into our diet and by then our body will be able to metabolize well and stay at a stable weight. Of coz if we continue with unhealthy eating habits and take in more calories than the body can process, the whole problem of weight creeping back on will happen, after all we are what we eat.. This gain however, can be corrected early to stabilize our weight by doing a correction day of a 6 apple day or a steak day. And so far those that have done that have had good results.

Nevertheless, just to share we found that in this Round 2 Maintenance our weight have been less volatile and seems to react well to slight cheating.. No explanation for that, perhaps the body has already learnt to adjust to new base weight in the first round...or our metabolism has improved and working it's best again versus before we did HCG..

Jazz R2 Maintenance 14 & Jai R2 Maintenance 7

No miracle today in terms of weight loss, but still a blessing. Jazz down 200 gm to 82.8 kg after two days of being stucked at 83 kg. I gained a 100 gm at 60.2 kg, I'll take it happily after all last night I did cheat on 3 pieces of Kuih Bangkit I made and those were made of tapioca flour and sugar both non protocol items in Phase 3...

Iftar for me was a simple vegetable soup with bak choy, tomatoes, prawn, squid and beef. Took some fried tofu with chili soy sauce and fruits. Jazz had another Iftar buffet outside and he ate mostly protein and veg. Sahur meals were left over food from Iftar, really not in the mood to eat...not hungry but to just ensure sufficient calorie intake for the day. Snacks were almonds and pistachios. I have been diligently taking my Clenz tea and two tablespoon of ACV before bed in Phase 3.

Got happy SMS from a friend on Diet-33 who lost 9 kg todate, and another who lost almost 10 kg on an 18 day program...wow! Very good progress indeed, better than mine.. They're looking forward to put on new smaller sized attire for Eid.. HCG works better for men and also if you have a higher base weight, so the more you need to lose the better the loss will be if you follow the protocol.. All in all we are happy for those that managed to lose weight and hopefully become healthier persons on this life changing experience..

Tuesday 16 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 13 & Jai R2 Maintenance 6

Jazz maintained his weight at 83 kg today. He had a buffet Iftar with clients yesterday and for Sahur just ate 2 egg whites and fruits.. He apparently bowed down to kuih temptations during Iftar, so it's considered lucky that his weight didn't shoot up.. Happy day for me as I dropped to my lowest weight in perhaps 15 years at 60.1 gm today....400 gm down..yeay! This despite my cheat of a choc chip cookie the day before. Iftar for me was 2 California hand rolls without the rice, mixed grilled vege with sautéed beef fillet and mussels miso soup. For my Sahur, I had 2 fried eggs sunny side up with mushroom and cheese..

But I baked a traditional cookies called kuih bangkit just now and we both had 3 small pieces of that to test the sweetness....yeah right... I did reduce the sugar by 50 gm if that's gonna make any difference.. :) Hoping for another miracle tomorrow..

Monday 15 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 12 & Jai R2 Maintenance 5

Jazz weighed in at 83 kg on Monday still within range but on a high side, guessed the choc chips cookies and the mini cheese cake he had are making their presence felt... and I gained a 100 gm to 60.5 kg, must be the one piece of the sugary choc chips cookie I took. Ouch!

Iftar for us were simple dishes of beef asam pedas ( sour chili soup ) and mixed vege cooked in coconut milk and prawns. It was nice to have a sour and spicy dish. We also had some fruits as well and pistachios as snacks later in the night. Sahur was the same left over dishes from Iftar except I put in chicken in the asam pedas as we had no more beef in the soup..

Overall we have been adding calories by snacking on nuts to make sure that we up our calories to above 1200. Quite a challenge during fasting month as we have less time to eat... I am planning to bake some more cookies for Eid and that's a big challenge too as I will need to taste my cookies... Will definitely reduce the sugar in the recipe and substitute with natural sugar such as agave or honey where I can..

Sunday 14 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 11 & Jai R2 Maintenance 4

A gain of 200 gm to 82.7 kg for Jazz this morning, may be it was the mini Oreo choc cheese cup cake he had last night. I lost a 100 gm to 60.4 kg and I am happy..

We have been eating oily, fattening stuff such as coconut milk in our dishes and taking almonds and cashews as snacks to up our calories. The rest were mainly fruits tho we did take mango which is not really P3 friendly even as a fruit given it's high sugar.. I baked my first Raya Eid cookies today baking the foolproof easy recipe of a nut and choc chips cookies. Despite my good intention, I took a piece of the sugary stuff and hubby took a few pieces plus one more of the mini Oreo choc cheese cupcake. I just had to remind him that his weight was not stable in the last round as he took starch and sugar too early in P3... A reminder to self as well of coz.

Yesterday, we ate out for Iftar as we attended an invitation for a meal with an orphanage in Shah Alam, Al Khadeem. They served us Nasi Biryani Gam, I just ate the chicken sambal, boiled egg and beef biryani skipping the rice. Jazz on the other hand had three spoonful of the rice with the side dishes...hmm.. Sahur morning meal for us was just fruits.. Hope Jazz can go down to be nearer 82 kg, with the fasting month he's quite lucky as otherwise the temptations to stray from protocol is even greater...with longer eating hours...

Saturday 13 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 10 & Jai R2 Maintenance 3

Jazz is at 82.5 kg this morning down 200 gm. I lost 200 gm as well at 60.5 kg today may be bcoz I only ate a left over P3 friendly asam laksa Penang for Iftar last night.. Not bad, both of us are stabilizing within the safe 1 kg range.

So far so good...our appetite are back to normal and we have been adding lots of nuts as well to up our calorie intake.. In fact hubby is finding it difficult to avoid sugar temptations rather than carbo temptations and ate a mini choc cheese cup cake I made just now..  I did use brown sugar and agave nectar so it's not P3 friendly food but he ate it anyway. The cup cakes were meant for my daughter and on hindsight I shouldn't have let him see the cake...

Let's see how tomorrow goes..

Jazz R2 Maintenance 9 & Jai R2 Maintenance 2

Jazz weighed in at 82.7 kg yesterday up 200 gm and I dropped to 60.7 kg down 200 gm. We have been increasing our calories to 1,000+ cal as required to stabilize our body to the new weight. From our Round 1 experiences we knew that at the on start of P3, the weight can be a bit volatile as the body adjust to the new higher calorie intake before stabilizing in about a week.

What's challenging at this stage is, if we ate out as our local food tend to have lots of sugar in them and unhealthy because of that, not to mention the MSG content as well.. Yesterday, I had an Iftar invitation by a corporate client and had a large buffet temptation in front of me...food was in abundance and I chose to skip the rice and just had most of the protein dishes and fruits. But I did allow myself to enjoy 3 fish crackers and 3 small prawn fritters, outside protocol of coz..

All in all, I think I didn't do too badly...I could have cheated a lot worse. Sahur meal for us were a bowl each of asam laksa Penang with veges and boiled eggs.

Friday 12 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 8 & Jai R2 Maintenance 1

Jazz stalled at 82.5 kg, no big deal...in fact good, better than a gain right? As for me, I went up a whopping 700 gm on Phase 3 Day 1...at 60.9 kg. Wow! What a gain.. No point of being upset about it, it will only spoilt my mood and that I don't want. Life's too short to be upset and moody on petty things like this...yeah right! Anyway, it's still within the 1 kg range from my last weight of 60.2 kg. So be it.

I had a bowl of tapioca leaves cooked in coconut milk for Iftar, my favorite dish. Hubby had a bit of that too and we had variety of fruits which were nice for me for a change. But not so good fruits in terms of the sugar contents actually, watermelon, pineapple and grape. We had apple and orange as well but those were okay.. For protein, we both had prawns sambal again cooked with chilis and Stevia.

Sahur meal was a yummy bowl of asam laksa Penang, a dish of blended fish and spicy sour soup. My first time cooking this and it's a hit with my hubby and daughter. Copied the recipe from a famous local cooking blog " Che Mat Gebu ". We had that with just cucumber, salad, bird's eye chilies, pineapple and boiled eggs.. I already started increasing the quantity of my food intake especially the protein, so I can start moving towards adjusting my weight at higher calories ie 1500 cal. I don't want my body to interpret that I needed lower calories to live if I don't increase my calories during this phase as that would be disastrous...to eat like a bird all my life so I can keep my weight stable..hehe no way!

Wednesday 10 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 7 & Jai R2 Transition Day 3

Jazz is down another 200 gm to 82.5 kg and he's happy that his weight is stabilizing nearer to 82 kg region. I finally made some progress down 300 gm to 60.2 kg. That's more like it.... :) despite the adhoc cheat, I have been taking in lesser than 500 calories this past few days taking only one fruit portion for my morning sahur meals...I was hoping that the lesser calories may mitigate the damage...but I don't know, Dr Simeon specifically stated in his Pound and Inches that this program is not just about calories but also the chemical reaction between the food combination and your body... Anyway, too late to ponder about it as with the cheat I have to try and salvage what I can to lessen the damage...like taking double dose of Clenz tea to encourage toilet trips and extra ACV nightly..

Jazz had prawn sambal for Iftar with salad. I just took the prawn minus the sambal with salad. Jazz of coz had additional protein in the form of chicken nuggets and and fried tofu with bird's eye chili soya gravy. I ate 2 chicken nuggets with my eyes wide opened knowing that I'm mixing protein AGAIN! Not to mention that the nugget's crumbs are made of crisps a no no in the protocol... Well R2 has to finish now as for me it has unethically been full of cheat... Sahur morning meal is a non event, fruits again, an orange for me and variety of fruits for Jazz. He also finished off the left over prawn sambal with salad we had for Iftar.

Everything considered, I am happy that I am just 200 gm away from my ideal weight target of 60 kg... To maintain it within a kg range during Maintenance Phase, now that's another story.... All the best to me!!

Jazz R2 Maintenance 6 & Jai R2 Transition Day 2

Jazz lost 200 gm on Maintenance Day 6 weighing in at 82.7 kg. Nothing unusual about the food intake, he was adhering to the protocol, except for may be some sweet sauces we took that have sugar in them ie. Soya sauce and oh! I forgot, he took a piece of my home made screw pine leaf bake cake ( kuih bakar pandan ) if that's the right translation..haha. For Iftar, we had siakap grilled fish, I drizzled it with olive oil out of habit and instead of washing the oil and marinate off the fish decided to just grill it as is. So I went against protocol, and had the oiled grill fish while still on Transition. Also ate cabbage soup with it and an orange. Sahur morning meal, was just an apple for me and Jazz had prawn sambal rolled in salad as well as few types of fruits..

I stalled on Transition Day 2 maintaining at 60.5 kg. Guessed my cheat of mixing protein during the buffet Iftar recently has caught up with me in terms of my weight loss progress...nil that is.

Well there's always tomorrow... :). InsyaAllah.

Monday 8 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 5 & Jai R2 Transition Day 1

Jazz gained 600 gm to 82.9 kg, not good.. He has been eating mostly high protein but I guess there's a lot of hidden sugars in our food especially when we eat out....the sauces etc are normally laden with sugar. That could be the culprit making him gained quite a bit although still below the 2 lb or 1 kg limit for him to be worried..but near enough to a kg to be concerned about what went wrong. He did cheat tho by having two slices of marble cake I made yesterday. Hmm...

My progress? Also not good...I gained 200 gm today to 60.5 kg even though I hardly ate anything for Sahur meal except an orange and lots of water. For Iftar I had beef soup with tomato but didn't weigh the meat so likely I had exceeded the 100 gm portion... Well never mind, I am ok with 200 gm gain as long as not over 500 gm. I still have two days of Transition and then Maintenance.. I am hopeful that I can lose more and be 60 kg or below by Raya due to eating less during the fasting month.. I should then have a 2 kg buffer for Eid food feast InsyaAllah. That's the strategy.. Haha.. The scale will be my best friend forever..it's not funny, it's a necessity..

Sunday 7 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 4 & Jai R2 VLCD 14

We both went out again for a buffet Iftar on Saturday, as I have yet to finish my meal voucher for a 35% discount at Lemon Garden Shangri La. Good spread of seafood and barbecue selections for the fasting month as always. As expected, Jazz had a jolly time stuffing himself with all sorts of protein there is... And I had an overdozed of multiple protein, against protocol obviously. Again I was being bad knowing that I am only 500 gm away from my ideal weight of 60 kg. Had just cucumber for my veg portion but had to a have a little piece of baklava... Huhuhu..... So before bed, I had double Clenz tea and extra ACV and extra prayer for weight loss..hehe.

Decided to just drink lots and lots for Sahur meal and didn't take any food to compensate for already high calories taken for Iftar. Jazz just had fruits of various kinds, orange, apple, watermelon and longan for his Sahur meal.

Weigh in today, Jazz at 82.3 kg a gain of 400 gm and I lost 200 gm to 60.3 kg. Phuh!! This R2 has really been kind to me as in my R1, a slightest cheat such as a switch in just a leafy veg can threw me off by a gain of 500 gm, no kidding...let alone multiple protein... I must count my blessings coz there really have been a lot this Round... Alhamdulillah.

I have decided to finish off this phase and is going through transition starting from this morning.

Jazz R2 Maintenance 3 & Jai R2 VLCD 13

Jazz managed to go down to 81.9 kg yesterday, quite a drop from his previous weight of 82.5 kg the day before, a released of 600 gm. I dropped 300 gm, alhamdulillah to 60.5 kg yesterday. Nothing significant happened yesterday; for Iftar I had beef fajitas just the beef and salad. Took a bite of short ribs just a bit. Jazz had a good time finishing off the beef fajitas, short ribs and mussels in harbenaro sauce. We ate out for Iftar at Las Carretas, Ampang. For early morning Sahur meals I just took half an orange and lots of water, no protein for me as I think I had enough for Iftar to cover for my Sahur portion as well. Jazz had 2 fried eggs sunny side up and various fruits..grape, orange, apple and watermelon. Uneventful day but glad that I did lose some weight and not stall.. Jazz was pleasantly surprised that he lost 600 gm even with his higher food intake..

Friday 5 August 2011

Jazz R2 Maintenance 2 and Jai R2 VLCD 12

Jazz stayed at 82.5 kg this morning. I guessed he has to be happy maintaining at between 82 to 83kg range. As long as he doesn't exceed a kilo from his last weight of 82.1 for Phase 3, he should be alright. Otherwise he has to break the gain by doing an apple or a steak day to get back within the 1 kg range from 82.1 kg. He had quite a lot of food for Iftar the previous day and he cheated on little bite pieces of Roti Boom, a cheat nonetheless. We ate out at Naan Corner, Ampang as it offers a good variety of dishes for Iftar at RM25 per pax. Very reasonable we thought as there's only so much you can eat for Iftar, so it's not worth it to spend so much on expensive buffet.

I had a massive conflict with myself between staying on protocol and succumbing to the various dishes on the buffet... Major mistake in going for Iftar Buffet... :(( I was definitely not strong and focus enough to resist. So, I exceeded my calories for the day....didn't have any starch, but sugar definitely as the dishes would surely be prepared with added sugar as the norm in our local cooking. I didn't gorge, ate reasonably small portion but mind bogling mixture of protein that you can think of ie. beef liver, beef lung, lamb, beef steak, fried tofu, fish soup and cucumber.. Urgh....just writing about it makes me feel so guilty. This is the worst cheat I have ever done, never been this bad in R1. I was pretty good in R1 despite the long 41 days of VLCD. The thing is, being so close to my ideal weight threw me off balance. Lesson learnt.. Avoid temptations, don't put yourself in a vulnerable situation unless you have a solid steel will power. To mitigate, I took 2 packets of Clenz Tea and extra ACV before bed.

After all that, strangely I lost 200 gm to 60.8 kg today. But I don't wanna be happy prematurely, as lesson learnt in R1....the weight can haunt you not the next day but few days after the cheat... Allah forbids that I should stall or gain when I only have a few more days to transition and maintenance.... 800 gm to my target...please let me lose weight tomorrow..

Jazz Maintenance 1 & Jai R2 VLCD 11

First day of Maintenance yesterday and Jazz had reasonably good variety of protein, fruits and veg for Iftar and Sahur meals. Results: a gain of 400 gm this morning to 82.5 kg. Not a worry as we know from previous experience in R1 that the weight will fluctuates but within a safe enough range unless you really gorge or cheat on starch and sugar..

Just like yesterday I released 300 gm of fat again this morning and now at 61 kg. Just a kg to lose to my ideal weight for my age and height.. I am thinking of ending the core phase this Sunday so hopefully in the next 3-4 days I can do a 300 gm daily loss and reached my target comfortably... Fingers crossed.

My hunger so far has been manageable, in fact I have been eating less this fasting month sometimes omitting the fruits and haven't been taking Grissini sticks at all.. Counting the days when I can be on Maintenance and have more food choices to take. I don't mind the no sugar and starch protocol it's just for 21 days anyway, but I just need to eat other stuff ie protein... Squid, lamb, nuts and cheese etc and that I can do during Maintenance. Frankly I almost hate prawn now and I am quite sick of chicken, beef and fish..more bcoz of the protocol cooking style of coz..

I haven't felt fatigue but I don't do much physical work anyway, just office work and light cooking for myself and hubby, whilst other houseworks and cooking for the kids are done by a helper.

On my inches loss definitely now it's coming mainly from my tummy as my apple shape is gone and I now have a flat upper tummy, unseen in 15 years may be.. The lower tummy is still there but much less so I am happy..

Jazz Transition 3 & Jai R2 VLCD 10

Jazz stalled today at 82.1 kg and I lost 300 gm at 61.3 kg this morning. No big deal.. So used to quirkiness of HCG and fasting month is making it a bit more complicated what with no water during the day and early morning meals in the picture.

We had grilled terubuk fish for Iftar, wasn't sure if it's considered as white fleshed but had it anyway with pickled Bragg amino liquid with ACV, chilies and tomatoes. Took our fruits as snacks and later for 5 am Sahur meals, I wanted other variety after so many limited protein meal...so I decided to have 1 boiled egg and 3 egg whites, allowable as a vegetarian option of maximum once a week for non vegetarian. Couldn't even finish that, took half of the portion only and finished it off with an orange.

Let's see if I can release some more fats tomorrow. The progress is supposed to get slower as it nears my ideal weight of 60 kg. I am supposed to feel more hungry and easily tired nearing the ideal weight, so shall see whether that will be the experience... Nonetheless I do feel that this R2 is a breeze as compared to my R1....especially on the hunger department. Smaller tummy I guess..

Jazz is moving onto the next phase Maintenance and can eat higher calories of 1500 cal consisting of many more varieties except starch (Grissini sticks included ), sugar and artificial sweeteners for the next 21 days. This phase is key to keeping his weight stable as the body resets itself to its new lower base level. He has successfully shed 17.6 kg of his weight from his maximum of 99.7 kg in January this year to 82.1 kg that he is now. Well done!! Perseverance pays for those who really want it..

Jazz Transition 2 & Jai R2 VLCD 9

Jazz is at 82.1 kg this morning a loss of 400 gm and I am at 61.6 kg, 300 gm down from yesterday. Nothing interesting to update as we both stayed quite close to protocol for Iftar and early Sahur meals. For Iftar we had roast chicken percik from Ayamas minus the skin and sauces with cabbage soup and for Sahur meals we had baked prawns and fruits.

The fasting so far has been very smooth as the hunger during the day is nothing unbearable.. We just have to drink up more during the night at least 8 glasses of water to ensure enough hydration for fat burning. We miss the great variety of food at Pasar Ramadhan especially the sweet treats but know enough to just get on with the phases for maximum weight loss. We can eat all that we want once we are done with the program, of course more sensibly as that's the best part about this diet...it teaches you about control and eat to live NOT live to eat. Very good lesson for me who used to let food be my world..I loved food too much. Hopefully, going forward I will always be mindful that I am what I eat.
